Believing that everyone has a story to tell and that the telling of stories is essential in the creation of social change, Sassafras is a passionate about facilitating workshops for marginalized LGBT populations. She teaches regularly for colleges, community groups, and homeless shelters.

Past appearances have included: Swarthmore College, Boston’s Write Here, Write Now, Sylvia’s Place Emergency LGBTQ youth shelter, NYAC’s national conference, Portland State University, The Portland Zine Symposium,  Bard  College, and the GLBTQ Online High School.

Sassafras is available to facilitate workshops on a variety of topics, all of which can be tailored to a specific audience. Sassafras also offers one-on-one writing coaching, and storytelling for nonprofit organizations.
